Notice of Annual Meeting
Monday, December, 16th, 2013 @ 6:00 p.m. Fruitville Library
Your presence and participation at our Annual Meeting is essential. It is imperative that we have a quorum (33 residents) to conduct business. Please make it a point to be present and to share your concerns and ideas.
We have two (2) vacancies on our HOA Board (two) (2) full term. Please seriously consider volunteering to serve a term. We need a complete board to continue functioning successfully.
Not having a full membership or at lease five members on the Board always presents the probability of not having a quorum to conduct official business. Please consider joining our Board of Directors team. This is a volunteer service to our neighborhood and we recognize that the members of the Board also have their personal professions and affairs to attend to. There will be times when one or two members may be unavailable or out of town. A full board will help guarantee a quorum whenever it is needed.
Not having a quorum can result in not being able to meet to officially address our HOA obligations. Such a situation leaves us open to the state intervening and appointing an outside management company, which will ultimately significantly increase the costs to the homeowners. The Florida Statutes provide for such action to occur.
HOA Meeting Scheduled for Monday, Sept. 30th @ 6:30 p.m. at the Fruitville Public Library
The Meadow Walk HOA meeting is scheduled to take place this coming Monday evening at 6:30 p.m. This is the third of four meetings scheduled for this year and all interested residents are invited to attend. As usual the meeting will be held at the Fruitville Public Library and a standard agenda will be followed.

2012 Sarasota Chalk Festival
The Festival happens through Nov. 6 in Burns Square where international artists will converge side-by-side with kids to chalk up the neighborhood. Drop by anytime, and you’ll never know what or who you might see.
One of the biggest draws will be Kurt Wenner, a Baltimore-based 3-D street painting artist known worldwide for his work. More murals are on the way, too, as the “Going Vertical” campaign will take over walls from 18 buildings around the city.
For those looking to chill to the music, Chillounge will turn the streets of Burns Square into a comfortable area to sit on high-end patio furniture while enjoying a night out with friends listening to live music. That takes place on Laurel Street between South Pineapple Avenue and South Orange Avenue from 5 p.m. to midnight on Friday, 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
Now in its 6th year, the Sarasota Chalk Festival’s goal is to bring the community together in mutual appreciation of some of the world’s best street art. Each year the festival has inspired thousands with its fantastic chalk drawings and wonderful murals. Last year the festival drew 200,000 spectators who saw 250 world-renowned artists such as Kurt Wenner and Leon Keer create beautiful three-dimensional chalk drawings on the streets of Sarasota.
Inaugural Sarasota Sports Set For Festival June 16
The inaugural Sarasota Sports Festival, a free family fun day to boost awareness of Payne Park in downtown Sarasota, will be held Saturday, June 16, 2012 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. The FREE event will feature a family fun run/walk, motivational exercise classes and a wide variety of sporting events and demonstrations from disc golf to Strider bicycling to Teddy Tennis.
The new circus themed playground at Payne Park also will be unveiled to the public and Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey will perform a special one-time only act just for the Sarasota Sports Festival at 9:30 a.m. “I envisioned this family fun day over a year ago,” said Mayor Suzanne Atwell. “Thanks to a terrific hard working committee we’re putting together a fabulous event that will put our beautiful Payne Park on the map and give families a reason to get out and exercise while having fun on a Saturday,” said Mayor Atwell. Payne Park is located at 2050 Adams Lane.
Activities will kick off at 8:30 a.m. with a family fun run/walk around the half-mile Payne Park track. Then, while Gold’s Gym instructors lead invigorating exercise classes on the main stage, various other events will get underway simultaneously throughout the park. “I’m really excited about this festival,” said Joe Duffus, Sports Festival Chairman and CEO of FIT Group, a Gold’s Gym partner. “Sports festivals are becoming very popular around the country. Some cities have tens of thousands of people who show up to their events. Sarasota has never seen anything like this before and I think families are going to have a great day filled with free fun,” said Duffus. Festival goers are encouraged to stroll the grounds and test their aptitude with different sports throughout the day.
Sarasota Masters Art Festival February 4th and 5th, on Palm Avenue in Sarasota’s Historic Downtown
The Masters promises to be Sarasota’s Premier Art Festival. A majority of participating artists have never displayed their artwork in Sarasota. The festival will feature 100 of the nations finest artists-both national and local-all presenting one-of-a-kind pieces in categories including oil, acrylic and watercolor paintings, sculpture, ceramics, fine jewelry, blown glass and more.
Through the years, Sarasota’s Palm Avenue and the surrounding downtown area have become the hub of Sarasota art exhibits, shows, displays and gatherings. It is a delightful blend of historic Sarasota, fabulous shopping and exciting cultural events. A perfect spot for this premier art event; participants can also choose from gourmet food items from local restaurants, have the opportunity to meet each artist and enjoy live entertainment.
Support from this event is provided by The Downtown Sarasota Alliance. The DSA has become a unified voice to promote and enrich Historic Downtown Sarasota, our bay-front community.
An Open Letter from the Board of Directors to all Meadow Walk Homeowners & Residents
As you have noticed, the front entrance to the development has been redone. We have discussed a “makeover” for the last two years. In July we solicited bids from local companies. Bids ran as high as $14,000. One company presented plans for $4200 which met all that we needed done. At the meeting on September 27th, the board voted to have the work done.
The plants that have been installed are the type that can both withstand Florida heat and provide some color. The contractor removed all the lava rock as it has been the source of playful tossing by the students waiting for the bussses in the morning.
It was also discussed that a message would be sent to everyone asking that the children at the bus stop not walk in or damage the new plantings. We ask everyone to be observant when coming into or out of the development. If you see the children doing any damage, please tell them to stop. The work was funded by our annual maintenance fees, which means that each and every one of us contributed to this project, We want this notice to have a positive spin, but please know that we feel obliged to let you know that in order to be fair to everyone in the community, we will have to charge the parents of any child doing damage to the entrance area with the cost of repair.
We hope everyone likes the new entrance and we ask that you provide feedback to the board.
