Minutes: 08/29/2004

MEADOW WALK BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING
August 29, 2004, 7:00 PM at the Fruitville Library

All Directors were present

Nancy Dell'Accio called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM. Betsy Dane read the minutes from the July 29th meeting, which were approved.

Nancy advised that there have been three individuals who have expressed interest in the position vacated by Penny Walsh: Dolly Fenix, Josh Ridenour and Gary Walsh. The floor was opened to seek any other interested persons. There being none, the Board held a vote, which was tied three times. The three candidates were given the opportunity to indicate their qualifications and reasons for wishing to serve, and the vote was still tied. All candidates agreed to settlement by having the tying names placed into a hat and having a non-board member select. Josh Ridenour's name was selected, and he has joined the Board as Pennyâs replacement, with his term expiring 12/31/2005. Nancy thanked Gary and Dolly, on behalf of the Board, for their willingness to serve and for their continued interest in the well-being of the community. As Josh Ridenour has served as Chair of the Modifications Committee, the Board took the position that while he may still sit on the Committee as the "tie-breaking" vote and as the Board liaison, a special meeting of the Committee must be called in order to select a new Chairperson.

Eddie Martin has been seeking bids from Lawn Service companies in light of the previous contract being cancelled due to non-performance. He presented the Board with three estimates/proposals, from Aaron's Bayside, Riccardo's Quality, and Coastal. He indicated his preference to be Aaron's based on expertise and time in the business. Upon careful review of the proposals, the Board voted to give the contract to Coastal, which is owned by David Del Santo, a Meadow Walk homeowner. He has provided sufficient insurance, licenses etc. to qualify him.

A homeowner asked that the Board consider the establishment of an emergency contact list for out-of-area families to find out what was going on at Meadow Walk in the event of a hurricane or other disaster. The Board decided unanimously that this was not part of their role, and that families should set up their own contact systems. Betsy Dane will continue to be the liaison for the Red Cross during critical times.

There has been vandalism to our front island, which was reported to the police. If anyone knows anything about this landscape destruction, please let someone on the Board know. In the interim, all families are reminded to please be sure their children to not play in, on and around the island.

The 2nd Annual Meadow Walk Holiday Party is scheduled for Saturday, December 11. It will be funded, once again, by the sale of ads in the Homeowners' Directory. John Finlay has volunteered to solicit outside ads (homeowners may still place a business card sized ad for free, and are encouraged to do so). Betsy Dane has volunteered to update the information about the homeowners which is printed in the directory.Ê Please let her know if you have any changes or additions (email addresses, phone numbers, etc.).

A workshop to continue to revisions to the Meadow Walk documents will be scheduled. All homeowners should be receiving copies of the revisions for their comments by the October meeting. In this way, final revisions will be ready for homeowner vote at or before the Annual Meeting in December.

Finally, Nancy wished to thank GravityFree for continuing to host our web site.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:15 PM.

Respectfully submitted, Betsy Dane, Secretary/Treasurer
